The Emerging Church

Check out my co-redhead Phunkyknitter (aka B. Mobley) in this CBS2 newsclip about her church. Very interesting, and, I think, gracious treatment of the Emerging Church Movement.

Drop Every Project! Fleece Artist is in DA HOUSE!!!!

July 14, 2006 · 2 Comments

I have a pal. She’s not new (to me anyway), but she sent me a package. I didn’t even sign up to get stuff from her. I didn’t have to fill out a questionnaire or meet a deadline or anything. And yet look what I have!

Can you guess who it is?

Thanks, pal-e-o.

Project Runway, here we come!

July 14, 2006 · 3 Comments

I was working on my computer this morning, and ABC said, “When are you going to finish your mystery project?”

“When I finish it.” I mumbled.

She started playing with the pieces of the felted project, and since they were too small (a true design flaw) and have to be reknit, I told her she could have them–especially because she was sticking them between her toes and pretending they were flip flops.

I looked over a few minutes later, and she was making her own homemade flip-flops out of felted yarn. She said, “These aren’t actually flip flops because they don’t go between your toes.” And she cut and stitched away with only a tiny bit of stitching help from me.

Voila! Her first design. I think I’ll submit it to Whiplash, when they have a new design category. We also fashioned matching slippers for Charles (the cat), but he got mad at us, so it was a wash. I bet Velvet would let me make him flip flops.

Yikes, isn’t our floor horrible? Need to paint it again.

Right now I am working on a very poorly-executed KSKS pal bag. Maybe I’ll have ABC make it.

Puppy knitting on the list

July 14, 2006 · 1 Comment

I checked this book out of the library and put it on my Amazon wishlist because it had some cute patterns. I promised to knit a sweater for Sasha the amazing Yorkie who owns my friend, Sonya. She (Sasha) is tres petite and must needs have a cover for those cold South Dakota walkies. Much to my delight, it was on clearance at the yarn sale last night. I’ll scan a pic of the one I plan to knit.

Project Spectrum Yarn of the Day

July 14, 2006 · Leave a Comment

In the spirit of Project Spectrum, I went to the sale at Knitche (I may have mentioned that fifty times already).

My mom asked me to knit her a sweater, and since some other knitter bought all the dark-colored skeins of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, I had to find another yarn. I hit the jackpot with Classic Elite Bazic in Grape Harvest (Raspberry) #2995, now discontinued. It’s a superwash merino worsted weight. And that’s the right yarn for the Folly sweater from Knitty that I want to make minus the lapel flowers. They work for Jillian, but they wouldn’t work for my mom. The sweater is wonderful. The cranberry-colored yarn is for any contrast work I might do on the sweater (flowers at the cuffs). I know you said no red, Mom, but this is really pretty.

Knitche

Don’t forget Knitche’s annual sale. It started today (July 13) and ends July 20th. Kathy and her crew have some wonderful items at great prices. All her knitting bags and needles cases are 25% off. I wish I needed one. They are so beautiful. Some needle cases were only $3. Here’s one fabric the bags come in:

She also has project bags of various yarns they have assembled at huge discounts. I picked up one that had five skeins of Debbie Bliss cotton angora in pink and two skeins of Crystal Palace Yarns Summer Net Straw Into Gold. The Debbie Bliss is a lovely dusky pink. It would make a beautiful tank. And I’m not into pink.
